Don't Worry, Be Happy!

We finished up our study on Matthew 6 in our group last week and this one thought keeps coming back.  Jesus tells us not to worry about what to wear, what you will eat, or what you will drink.  Have you ever stopped to think about who really said those words?  Yeah, I know, Jesus, so what do you mean?

Jesus began His ministry leaving behind everything we take comfort in and became a homeless man.  He used to work as a carpenter, had a home to lay down His head, but as He begins ministry, all that is left behind.  Then He calls 12 men to follow after Him and off they go; and don't forget, there were several women who traveled around with them as well.  No house, no income, just a band of men and women fully trusting God to provide all they needed as they went proclaiming the good news of the coming of the kingdom of heaven.

God took care of all their needs.  Now, if we worry about food, drink, or clothes, can you hear the words of Jesus, "O, you of little faith?"  This was the first time I have ever put two and two together when consider the teachings of Jesus about not worrying.
