Our Mission Trip to Mexico

I have been able to be a part of several mission trips and each one brings me back to one thought...people are not much different here as they are there. As the week goes on, I begin to feel more and more like I am just around the corner from my own house. I don't have this feeling that I am thousands of miles from home.

Being in Mexico over the past week also brought back another feeling: home. I don't know what it is but as I was riding back into town with our team leader one day, I just felt like this was home. Perhaps that was the same feeling I had in 1998 when I was in Saltillo, Mexico and really felt the call of God to come and work in Mexico. But the feeling this time wasn't one making me think I needed to move to Mexico as much as I just felt like this was home.

The week was good. Our group was able to build a house in 32 hours. For many in our group, there were a lot of new experiences. Some used power tools for the first time. For many, it was the first time crossing the US border. The week was a really good bonding time for our group.

By the time we arrived home in the early hours of the morning Saturday, everyone was pretty exhausted. We had given our all to the Kingdom and it was all worth it. Some of our pics from the week can be found here. You can also check out the mission we worked with: Casas por Cristo.
