I learned a lesson from my father years ago that he probably doesn't remember teaching me. We had observed a family member who would burn his bridges when he decided he had enough with certain employers. Later on, when he needed the work, he would basically have to grovel at their feet to get work. My dad told me to never burn your bridges as you go through life. That advice has always stuck with me. Each time I decided it was time to move on, I left on good terms.
Well just recently, I decided that I need to cross back over a bridge and return to a place of work that I left. What a tremendous feeling it is to be wanted back as the company continued to pursue me after I left.
The same is true with God. Each of us has burned our bridges with God. Many times our guilt prevents us from going back. What we must realize is: God rebuilds the bridge. The death of His Son paid for our guilt as well as our sin. His sacrifice cleanses us from a guilty conscience (Hebrews 10:22). He makes it possible for us to cross back over and start fresh. We must drop our weighty baggage of guilt and sin, and wallk across that bridge back to God.
It has been a long time since any postings have been put up. Hopefully, I will return to some more regular blogging.
